1. Many people have kindly asked us where we are registered for gifts. The short and long answer is that we are currently registered at Crate & Barrel, and we have also registered at Macy's... For those of you who know that Kay has a penchant for nifty tools in the kitchen, there may be a third store involved if she can find someplace that has a good selection of useful cooking and baking materials.
Thank you for asking, and we will update the information as soon as we have it.
2. Others have asked about events before and after the wedding. For family and those of you who will be traveling from afar, we will be celebrating Mother's Day together on Sunday late morning, most likely in the community room of the condominium building where Kay currently lives (Belltown Court). It is completely optional, and we will post more information regarding this event in the near future.
3. I don't really know what else, but I felt funny having only two questions on the list. So we'll continue to fill up this list as we get closer to the wedding! Eleven weeks and counting!!
*new question!* :)
4. Questions about bringing kids:
We are actually expecting quite a few kids to be present at both the ceremony and the reception, and as such, we're doing our best to put some thought into making the day enjoyable for them and also for their hard-working moms and dads.
- Kids at the ceremony: The church where our ceremony will be held has a "cry room" with a full viewing window into the sanctuary. So for parents who are concerned about their little ones for during the ceremony, this would be a good option. The only caveat to this is that the room obviously has limited space, but by and large, I expect that it will be sufficient for those moments when a mom/dad needs a little privacy with a baby.
- Kids at the reception: Our hope is to have an area set up with coloring books and a DVD (or two) playing on a computer/small TV. We've also made a special request to our caterer to provide some kid-friendly snacks in this area. We still need to work out the details on this, but our hope is that the kiddies will have as much fun at the big party as their parents.

Hotel Monaco is located in the heart of Downtown Seattle. It is a 4-star hotel within easy walking distance to many attractions in the downtown area including: the Seattle Public Library, Pike Place Market, Pacific Place Shopping Center, Seattle Art Museum, and pretty much anything else that is considered to be downtown. They provide complimentary wireless internet, coffee service in the morning, and a hosted wine reception in the evenings in their lobby area. This hotel also happens to be one block away from Belle Epicurean which is the bakery Kay has been working at part-time for the past 3 years. If you choose to stay here, it might be worthwhile to opt not to rent a car. Transportation to and from the airport is very manageable by either taxi (approximately $29.00 flat rate + gratuity) or airport shuttle (Grey Line Airport service). There is also free bus service through the downtown corridor through Metro Transit. For more information on room and hotel amenties, click here.
The Residence Inn is located on South Lake Union. All their rooms have a small kitchen, and there is a swimming pool at the hotel. For those families traveling with small children, this might be a nice option mostly due to the kitchen area and swimming pool. You are within walking distance to the Seattle Center (home of the Space Needle, the Experience Music Project, and also some kid-friendly carnival rides). However, you're not really within walking distance of downtown. If you're planning on driving a car, that won't be a problem. Breakfast is complimentary at this hotel. They also provide complimentary high-speed wireless internet service. For more information on room and hotel amenities, click here.
My other top suggestions include:
Check out craigslist for short term vacation rentals. Many of these are fully furnished apartments that come with complimentary parking. If you find something in the Belltown Court building (this happens to be where Kay lives) or Harbor Steps you have a *fantastic* location.
If you're planning on perhaps spending a few nights, you might also consider renting a house. These usually have a minimum 3-night commitment. Two good places to check are: VRBO (Vacation Rental By owner) and Sea to Sky Rentals. If you have any questions on the location of places that you might be checking out, feel free to contact us to ask questions. You don't want to rent anywhere that is too far from the city center.
For those renting cars, consider renting through Priceline.com. They will rent you a car from one of the major agencies (Avis, Hertz, Budget, Alamo) usually at a significantly lower rate than those same companies will give you themselves.
If none of the above lodging options appeals to you, you can try your luck by bidding on hotel rooms through Priceline or you can try Hotwire as well. The pastor of my church wrote a great blog entry on how to know what you're getting when bidding for hotel rooms: http://eugenecho.wordpress.com/2007/11/06/bargain-traveling/

Betrothed!
It was a special weekend. Matt's family flew to San Francisco to meet Kay's family, the weather was lovely, the food was plenty, and a good time was had by all.
On Saturday night, we gathered at the Hong Kong Flower Lounge in Millbrae, CA for a special engagement dinner. Reverend Young Il Kim shared a brief passage and blessed us. We exchanged vows and became officially betrothed! Very exciting.... :)
Our Engagement Story
On our second date, we both decided it would be great to go on a hike together. Kay, in an attempt to impress Matt, mentioned that the most challenging hike she'd done before was to hike to the Camp Muir base camp on Mt. Rainier. "Oh, then we should hike Mt. Si!" said Matt. "I've never done it, and if you did Mt. Rainier base camp, you can definitely do Mt. Si," he added. That fateful second date lasted for 11.5 hours, 7 hours getting from Belltown Court (where Kay lives) to the top of Mt. Si and down again, and then 4.5 hours sitting at Tutta Bella in Columbia City talking over Neopolitan style pizza.
Fast forward 1 year: October 19, 2008 - Matt & Kay's 1-year dating anniversary. A plan to re-create our 2nd date, except this time, instead of two people who'd barely spent 2 hours together, we are two people about to decide to spend the rest of our days together.
Matt packed all the food and water we would need and dutifully carried it all the way to the top of the 4 mile 3,500' elevation climb. At the top, we had sandwiches and snacks, and the same special iced tea we'd had a year ago.
After eating, we scrambled up some rocks to get a better view, and while Kay is taking pictures and in general taking in the incredible view, Matt says a myriad of wonderful things, gets down on one knee, and asks Kay to marry him. Kay responds with an enthusiastic "Oh Yeah!!!" and out pops a gorgeous diamond ring that Matt had picked out himself.... it fits perfectly.... and that is the beginning of our beginning....
